Our Melt Cups are a new design for Thermal Analysis that provides a more accurate measurement with a non-boil quality that allows quick filling of the cup and more consistency in analysis. Other models use water-glass or hydrated sodium silicate to hold the Tellurium in place. This is what causes the boiling and spitting when those cups are filled. The spitting of iron back out of the cup makes the cup difficult to properly fill and takes longer, or the cup is left only partially full. A partially filled cup means the thermocouple is no longer in the center of heat which can further skew the analysis. The boiling in other cups reduces the Carbon and Silicon content, much like “green-poling” a furnace does. Because our Melt Cups can be completely filled, the thermocouple is positioned in the middle of the “heat zone”, giving your foundry the most accurate answers and more consistent results.
We offer Melt Cups with Tellurium (for Iron Chemistry) and without Tellurium (for Microstructure).
The cup volume allows a quick analysis in the standard 2-2.5 minutes in normal sampling. If you would like to see it work, we can send you a free single or 5 piece sample to test (North America Free Trade Zone). Normal boxes are in amounts of 100 cups per box. Typical shipping is by UPS 2 day delivery. Pallets normally go by freight. Please specify your interest, and if any special shipping is required. We ship from Virginia: single boxes to 36 box pallets. Contact Dana Dove for any inquiries.
